Sticker Design, self-promo by chlorophyta

The first of a few self-promo pieces I'll be doing for my final project in Media this semester. This one's a 2.5"x3.5" vynl sticker that I just sent to be printed. This is the first full colored pencil piece I've done in a long time. I guess I need a reminder now and then how annoying it is to make everything look smooth and nice. I loved how it looked in the sketch that I did thursday morning, though, and wanted to keep the effect. The original for this is a little over 5"x7" because I wanted it to tighten up when printed at the smaller size.

Another commission for Ksilebo! I didn't think I'd get this one done as fast as I did, but I couldn't stop thinking about painting it, so I just went for it (despite many more pressing things like school not being done). It's done with acrylics, and I kinda winged it. I didn't do any colour or light/dark studies, I just squirted paint on my palette and made something I thought might look neato. =3 This one was just plain fun to draw and paint, and has a slight personal touch to it's meaning. I believe all living things were forged from the fires of the universe and of this earth. We belong to, and are part of this existance all together. Never forget your origins as a living being, an animal, a human, and have respect for ALL living beings because they share your legacy of life on this planet. I was also really inspired by a badass firedancing photo Graywolf showed me recently! Copyright to Katie Hofgard

Thylacines Card by Synnabar

For the Totem Cards Project (http://community.livejournal.com/totemcards), here is my card for the Thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus). I went back to my usual style (symbolic & stylized) and my favorite painting materials (gouache on watercolor paper) for this. I love to paint skulls, so I added one in, to symbolize the fact that it is considered extinct (though I secretly hope there are some hidden and alive somewhere out there). The eyes are empty for that reason, too. Additionally, the skull provides a definite "up" direction (so it has, for totem deck purposes, a "reverse" if it is drawn from the deck upside-down). I looked up hundreds of references for the thylacine, and did it in my own way (with a little bit of artistic license). It was a lot of fun to do all that research (mmm *drools*), especially since I've always been fascinated by them. It's mostly gouache on Strathmore watercolor paper, with a bit of pencil and Micron pen. Slight touchups in Photoshop.
